Canada’s Largest 'Vegas-Style' Casino Opening Next Week - Newstbt.com
Great Canadian Entertainment Corporation has announced the grand opening of the flagship Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto for Tuesday, June 20th at 5pm. This $1 billion resort will be the largest casino in both Canada and North America, offering a variety of gaming, entertainment, and leisure experiences.
The highly anticipated Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto is set to open next Tuesday on 33 acres of land, with an estimated cost of $1 billion. This Vegas-style resort will feature a 400-room hotel, 5,000-seat live entertainment venue, 4800 slot machines and 145 table games spread out within 328,000 square feet of space. This project has been under construction for several years, and CEO of Great Canadian Entertainment, Matthew Anfinson, has stated that this venture will provide an “unprecedented opportunity to introduce an entirely new, world-class experience in Canada that will bring together the best in casino gaming, exceptional live entertainment, dining, and accommodation in one very special place.” Once it is in full operation, this facility is predicted to bring in over half a billion dollars to the local economy.
Great Canadian Entertainment anticipates their new flagship establishment to be an appealing getaway for Canadians and visitors alike. As one of the premier gambling spots in Toronto, the capital of Ontario, four casinos, including Casino Woodbine that is managed by Great Canadian, will remain functional up until the grand opening of the advanced facility on June 20. Other notable casinos in the area are Casino Niagra, Casino Rama Resort, and Great Blue Heron Casino. Gambling in this region is a very profitable trade, with a promising outlook for the future.
Gambling by the Numbers
The QOGC is focused on promoting the growth of the Quebec online gaming sector by lobbying for responsible gaming policies and making sure all local operators are recognized.
In 2021, with the repeal of a law prohibiting single-game sports wagering, the 10 Canadian provinces officially opened up their respective markets to the expansion of gambling or betting, including sports betting. Ontario has been leading the way, having become the first province with a fully competitive online market. Their industry contributes an impressive $1.6 billion to Ontario’s GDP, and supports an estimated 12,000 jobs, according to a Deloitte report. Similarly, the Quebec Online Gaming Coalition was established in May this year, as a result of half-a-dozen iGaming companies and eight other stakeholders joining forces to promote the Quebec sector. The goal of the Coalition is to ensure local operators are recognized and responsible gaming policies are enforced. Provinces like Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Saskatchewan, and Alberta are paving the way for Canadians to bet safely from the comfort of their own homes.
The Quebec Online Gambling Corporation (QOGC) aims to collaborate with the provincial government to bring the iGaming regulatory framework and regulations for online poker, casino gambling, and sports betting up to date. It is likely that the QOGC will use Ontario’s framework as a guide as they head into the ‘Billion Dollar Opening’.
Back to the Billion Dollar Opening
