On Saturday, just before the start of UFC 290, former President Donald Trump was spotted at Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas alongside UFC President Dana White.

The 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, recently attended “UFC 290” at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip, amidst much fanfare. Although Trump is no stranger to MMA events, having built a strong relationship with UFC President Dana White since 2020, and earned cheers from fighters Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal, his Las Vegas stop was not all fun and games. Trump, who is widely seen as the presumptive GOP nominee for 2024, was escorted by White and commentator Joe Rogan into the arena, for what was likely a reminder to the public of Trump’s longstanding support for the sport.

Las Vegas Stop Not All Fun, Games for Trump

While visiting Red Rock, reported to be one of the best casino hotels in Las Vegas, Trump took in “UFC 290.” While there, however, Trump’s activities were far from recreational as he held a volunteer event at Fervent: A Calvary Chapel Church the following Saturday. This makes Trump only the second potential Republican candidate for 2024 to visit Nevada, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis being the first. This turnout appears especially interesting because Nevada is third on the state’s primary slate for the 2024 elections. In the 2020 election, Nevada was won by Biden, with a 2.39% victory over Trump. Even more, Biden’s victory over Trump in Nevada was slightly better than Hillary Clinton’s 2.42% margin in 2016. With six electoral votes, Nevada is an important state for both Republicans and Democrats.

The recent close victories in Nevada for presidential candidates of both major parties, combined with its location close to Arizona, another swing state, suggests that in 2024, candidates on both sides will be dedicating considerable attention and resources to their campaigns in the state – even though it only has six electoral votes. Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, who are vocal supporters of United States President Donald Trump, own Red Rock Resorts (NASDAQ: RRR). From 2016 onward, they have donated over $5.23 million to Trump-affiliated organizations, with one member even contributing $207K to the Trump Inaugural Committee after the 2016 presidential election. This has spurred the ire of the Culinary Union, a labor union that has faced opposition from the Fertittas for a long time. The Culinary Union boasts a strongly political standpoint, which is the polar opposite of the Fertittas’, and is endorsed by state Democrat candidates in 2022. This is despite former Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak being the one who ordered the closure of casinos in the state during the COVID-19 emergence. Although the casino industry has managed to recuperate, not all of its jobs have returned, as seen in the labor statistics – Nevada only holds an unemployment rate of 5.4%.

The nation’s highest level.
