Entering Week 14 of the NFL season, the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants boast the best ATS record in the league at 9-3.

Joe Burrow has had a strong season for the Bengals at home in Paycor Stadium, firing passes to lead Cincinnati to a 9-3 ATS record and a 6-1 SU record. The Giants (9-3 SU, 9-3 ATS), Cowboys (8-4 SU, 8-4 ATS), Titans (8-4 SU, 8-4 ATS), and Lions (8-4 SU, 8-4 ATS) have all been profitable teams thus far this season as they all sport a league-best 8-4 SU and ATS record. The Buccaneers (6-6 SU, 3-8-1 ATS), however, have the worst ATS record with a measly 3-8-1 ATS, covering only 27% of their games. Right behind Tampa Bay is none other than the Los Angeles Rams with a 3-9 SU record and only a 3-7-2 ATS record (30%).

Bengals (8-4 SU, 9-3 ATS)

This season has been a difficult journey for the reigning AFC Champions, the Bengals. It got off to a shaky start, with tight losses coming back-to-back in the first two weeks. They suffered a 3-point loss against the Steelers and a 2-point loss against the Cowboys, leaving them 0-2. However, they turned their season around, winning six of their next seven games and going on an impressive four-game winning streak. In a sweet revenge game in Week 13, they beat the Chiefs in a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship, with the final score mirroring the original. Joe Burrow led them to an uplifting victory, while Ja’Marr Chase made an incredible comeback from a hip injury– hauling in seven passes for 97 yards in his first appearance back.

In their last 10 games, the Bengals have a stellar 9-1 ATS record, with 4-0 ATS since the upset by Cleveland in Week 8. This formidable team is a -6 favorite for their Week 14 re-match against the Browns. These two AFC North rivals always look to battle it out for a close game, but the Browns seem to have an edge over the Bengals with the addition of QB Deshaun Watson. This will be the first time Burrow and Watson face off as division rivals, and the Bengals will play three more home games up against the Browns (Week 14), Buffalo Bills (Week 17) and the Baltimore Ravens (Week 18) followed by two road games against the Tampa Bay Bucs (Week 15) and New England Patriots (Week 16). The Giants currently stand at an impressive 7-4-1 SU and 9-3 ATS.

Giants (7-4-1 SU, 9-3 ATS)

The Bengals have been on fire this season, but things haven’t been going as swimmingly for the Giants since their Week 8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. They shocked the world with their 6-1 start, but have only managed to win one of their last five contests, ending in a draw with the Washington Commanders in Week 13. According to FiveThirtyEight, the Giants have a 50/50 chance to make it to the postseason as an NFC wild card. They’ll face three opponents from the NFC East in their next five matches, including two against the Eagles, who are currenly leading the NFL standings with 11-1. The last two home games this season will be versus the Philadelphia Eagles (Week 14) and Indianapolis Colts (Week 17) in New Year’s Day, while their three remaining road games will be the Washington Commanders (Week 15), Minnesota Vikings (Week 16), and Eagles (Week 18).

Even though it was a tie last week, the Giants were still considered a +2.5 “home dog” as the underdog at MetLife Stadium. They have been able to cover the spread 3 out of 4 times in their last four weeks. Dating back nine games, they have a 7-2 ATS record. When it comes to the worst ATS teams, that honour goes to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Worst ATS Teams: Bucs, Rams, Broncos, Jaguars

Out of all the teams this season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 3-8-1 record against the spread is the most lackluster. Plagued by injuries to their offensive line in the pre-season and even their wide receivers, it took nearly half the season for them to even grapple with the issue. Even Tom Brady, who was in the middle of a divorce with his wife Gisele Bündchen, had a hard time adjusting to a mid-season break-up and performed poorly in the process. Similarly, the defending champions Los Angeles Rams did not have a great season and finished with a 3-9 spread that ruled them out of being able to defend their title in the playoffs. Injuries were an integral aspect of their game, with Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Donald all receiving takes at some point or another. This contributed to the Rams being the fourth-lowest scoring team in the NFL, with an average of 16.8 points per game.

The Los Angeles Rams have struggled to cover games this season, sporting a 3-7-2 ATS record, which is the second-worst in the NFL. Their offensive issues have hurt their chances to backdoor any covers. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos are in similar territory with records of 4-8 ATS. The young Jags, who improved under Doug Pederson, have yet to figure out how to win close games. The Broncos, who have the worst offense in the league at 13.8 points per game, have rewarded those taking the under with an 11-1 record this year.
