On Saturday evening, during a promotional drive at the Las Vegas Grand Prix launch party, Lewis Hamilton attempted celebratory doughnuts, yet the effort went awry. The seven-time world champion, driving his Mercedes, created a smoke cloud that decreased visibility, resulting in him becoming stuck on the center divider of Las Vegas Boulevard.
Lewis Hamilton F1 driver crashes into median

At the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix launch party on Saturday, November 5, held on the Las Vegas Strip, a unique scene occurred for all the fans present. Driver Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes was stuck on the center divider while smoke filled the place, visible on the big screen broadcast of the event. David Croft, Sky Sports broadcaster and co-host of the show alongside former racecar driver Naomi Schiff, said in astonishment: “Oh, he just ran out of turning circle.” Hamilton, when asked on stage, laughed off the incident and said: “I nearly crashed yeah. There was so much smoke, and I had no idea where I was. I was completely lost. I couldn’t figure out the buildings, so I started pulling out, and then the barrier [was there].” Luckily, the driver ended up walking away unscathed.

Walking Away Unscathed

Formula One (F1) racers Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, and Sergio Perez showed off their flashy new cars, as they drove down the Las Vegas Strip for the official unveiling of the first F1 cars equipped with “underglow” lights. Although the Las Vegas track won’t be ready for a nearly a year, the hopeful drivers paraded their car showpieces, and the novel neon-blue lights gave their cars an added flair that increased nighttime visibility. Hamilton was the last to take the wheel, despite ironically being the least visible on the night. The underglow lights feature has gone global on social media, with fans expecting to see it featured in the next Las Vegas race or happenings of other night races. Get the popcorn! Time to see these petrol-run contenders turn it up and dazzle us as they hit the track.
