Earlier this week, police reported that a homeless man had attempted to take a ticket from a slot at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Afterword, he supposedly got into a quarrel with the player to whom the ticket belonged on the casino’s gaming floor.

At the renowned Bellagio (pictured above, image from TripAdvisor), a fight broke out between two patrons over a ticket from the slot machine. According to KVVU, local TV station, the incident occurred at 12:38 am Monday. The victim had been playing at the slot machine and stepped away to speak to his wife, when Deon Newton pressed the button and a ticket with a $67.07 value appeared. Newton allegedly took the ticket from the machine and a dispute arose when the player returned. After the player confronted Newton, the latter walked away, but then came back and punched the man in the face. Later, a struggle ensued between them and both suffered from minor injuries. Newton was arrested and charged with battery and fraud in a gaming establishment. He told the officers that he visits casinos to collect forgotten tickets for cashing in.

Newton was instructed by the judge this week to stay away from the Strip. The court date for Newton has been set for the 30th of August.

New Ordinance

The Clark County Commissioners recently broadened a local ordinance that empowers law enforcement to bar any person convicted of a felony or misdemeanor from the Strip. Anyone caught visiting the Strip despite being given this restriction can now face a six-month jail sentence or a $1,000 fine once the ordinance is implemented in the next few months. Already, judges can limit convicted drug dealers and sex workers from the Strip for up to one year.

Rescued Puppy

Last month, at the Bellagio, a California man was taken into custody and faced an animal abuse charge. Reports had revealed that a three-month-old puppy was left confined in a car, with its mouth taped shut, causing it to suffer the extreme heat from the sweltering car. The car had no air conditioning and the temperature inside of the vehicle was estimated to be close to 108 degrees. To further make matters worse, black electrical tape was used to restrain the Siberian Husky’s mouth, making it unable to bark for help and also having no access to food or water. The car was kept in the top garage floor, with it facing the direct sunlight for about two hours, according to KLAS. Despite the incredibly dangerous situation the puppy was in for, it surprisingly managed to survive. The dog was given water and placed in a cooler car once rescued, the puppy was also breathing heavily during the entire ordeal. Raul Carbajal of Corona Del Mar, California was identified as the arrested suspect.
